About Us

Lab Without Walls Inc. is an Australian-registered not-for-profit organisation. Our members are committed to develop new ways to support health care in needy populations, mostly in remote, rural communities at home and overseas.

We develop, demonstrate and deploys support to not-for-profit service organisations that share our values and aims.

Lab Without Walls aims to extend the boundaries of the possible by pioneering new approaches to pathology investigations where this kind of clinical support has not been available before. That does not prevent us from working closely with public pathology service providers and higher education.

Origins of LWW

Lab Without Walls emerged out of a series of health development projects in remote locations in remote parts of Australia and overseas. We started to take the easily portable parts of our clinical laboratory equipment on our travels. This gave us an opportunity to work out practical solutions for use in field studies. We have developed a series of field portable pathology methods over the last five years with support from PathWest Laboratory Medicine, the University of Western Australia, and biotechnology equipment providers including Agilent Technologies, Applied Biosystems and BioRad.
